I'm sure you've all heard it before. Old men shouting at kids to "get off my lawn!" What a bunch of crotchety old coots, right? WRONG. There's a reason why us old-timers are so adamant about keeping our lawns clear of foot traffic. Let me explain.
See, when we were kids, we used to run and play on our lawns all the time. We'd roll around in the grass, chase each other around, and generally just make a big ol' mess. But we didn't care. We were young and carefree and our parents didn't care either because they knew that the grass would eventually grow back.
These days, things are different. People are different. Kids these days don't know the value of a good lawn. They don't understand that when they walk on our lawns, they're damaging the grass and ruining its aesthetic appeal. And their parents sure don't care. They'll let their bratty little kids run rampant all over other people's property without so much as a second thought. It's downright disgraceful, if you ask me.
So next time you see an old man yelling at some kids to get off his lawn, don't judge him too harshly. He's just trying to protect his property (and his peace of mind).
